CYGNUS RADIO CELEBRATES ITS 4th ANNIVERSARY ON THE AIR
Independent Internet radio station continues playing the best music you've never heard

Berlin, MD -- Cygnus Radio, an Internet radio station based in Berline, MD and St. Louis, MO, celebrated its 4th anniversary on the air on February 2, 2009. Cygnus signed on with its first live programming in 2005.

Founded by Toni Anne Reagan (aka DJ SwanSpirit, or usually simply Swannie), Cygnus Radio has seen many changes over the past four years as people have come and gone -- both DJs and managers -- but through it all, Cygnus has preserved its reputation as a source for independent music that avoids the easy way out and provides listeners with quality tunes in a warm and welcoming setting. From the beginning, Swannie placed an emphasis on live programming, and set out to assemble a team of DJs who shared her vision of what Internet radio could be.

"I'm surprised at our success, and yet not surprised," says Swannie. "Our success has always been based on good people sharing their musical passion. I'm happy that we've come such a long way. I am also thrilled that we are now on iTunes"

Now co-managed by Swannie and David Vesel, Cygnus continues its mission to bring unheard music to adventurous ears. Most of Cygnus's musical offerings cater to rock and blues palates, but a variety of other sounds can be heard. The anniversary also coincides with Cygnus's longest running program, David's cult hit program Spellbound, a brief program of music for theremin, which celebrated its 4th year on the air on February 18.

Both Swannie and David are no strangers to Internet radio. Swannie had previously hosted programs at Ampcast, Song Planet, and Indie Radio Live, before founding Cygnus. David, a former college radio DJ in the late 1980s, previously hosted shows at Ampcast and IRL before being invited by Swannie to manage Cygnus's web presence. He became Technical Manager of the station in January of 2007.

Cygnus Radio claims no home town, base, or headquarters, as its collective experience is created by many people spread over North America and Europe. Its web site is located at [www.cygnusradio.com].

We were able to view Jupiter and it's moons the other night. What a beautiful site to see. Also if you are a James Dean fan you may visit the spot were they shot Plato.

Sorry, couldn't resist the Rolling Stones reference :-)

I've just submitted my music for airplay so I wanted to say hi to everyone!

I'm a Southampton, UK based singer/songwriter. My influences are mainly drawn from rock/pop sources, with Cat Stevens and R.E.M being perhaps the most immediately apparant. Hopefully a love of 60s melody and songwriting (Beatles, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground) is also evident.

Looking forward to getting involved with Cygnus Radio!

CYGNUS RADIO is proud to announce that we are now live and listed on ITUNES internet radio directory .
We are listed in the eclectic and rock categories ! We welcome all the new listeners from itunes and we all are excited to be bringing them all the great indie music we play .

We have very high quality live programs and are updating our auto
continously to add new great music ..
Our all volunteer Djs, On Air Hosts, and Presenters are passionate and
knowledgeable regarding independent music ; many, like myself have been
involved with independent music since the early days of mp3.com have been
on air hosts for years ; some are accomplished and currently playing musicians themselves and know and continue to seek out the very best
music to play , Many make the extra effort to record their shows for podcast so if you miss a show you can find it and listen later ;)

Many of our artists are our friends; we frequently debut new music from them, and they grace our chat on a regular basus :)
We currently list no less than three current Grammy nominees among our
artists, that we have been playing well prior to their nominations . Alice
Smith (Urban/Alternative ) ,BellaDonna (Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or
Group With Vocals )and
Loreena McKennitt's2006 Album (best contemporary world music album}, and
two former nominees Geoff Byrd and Todd Taylor .
We have been an internet presence for some time and are listed in the
INDIE BIBLE

We are an eclectic/ rock/ blues station with a wide variety of
incredible music from independent artists and entertaining and devoted
presenters . One of our presenters, Carol Lowery , Sister Moon ; is an artist whose songs have won song of the day, and song of the week, on GARAGE BAND and whose son is Clint Lowery currently of Seven Dust, previously Dark New Day, and Korn. While we dont play major signed artists, we keep abreast of the music industry and current, and sometimes far ahead with new music

       FREQUENTLY IMITATED NEVER DUPLICATED

                 NOW ON ITUNES

                  CYGNUS RADIO
